sorry I was testy. I see and hear so much Christian flack everywhere it gets to me sometimes.
I'm sure you are an amiable fellow - I see that too. I'm sorry for portraying you otherwise.
Yes, I like humor too, I can't live without it. I loved the South Park clip.
Now for your other question. As far as your term "spirit" that you used for my benefit, I'm not quite sure what you mean. I'm not really so orthodox Christian like you think. Do you mean your psyche perhaps? Your subconcious?
Anyway, I'm not at all convinced that people who claim an out of body experience had just that. The brain can play some amazing tricks on us, and the brain is an amazing thing. I often think about people suffering from Alzheimer's. I had to take care of my stepfather, so it's a very real thing to me. It got me thinking quite a lot about the brain, memories, etc. What happens to our memories if Alzheimer's patients can lose theirs so easily because of some missfirings of the brain. So the scenario you have presented is already something I've wondered about.
Have you ever observed really old people? (I'm old, but not that old yet). At a certain age, they lose their social id. Some become cranky and with a bad disposition. Some become sweet and pleasant and rarely say much, but always have a smile on their faces. Sometimes I think that's the true person underneath all the social graces one has had to learn in life. But that's another matter.
I did learn about the kinetic firings in our brain when I went to college and found that highly interesting.
I don't have any real answer to your question, but to say that it's something I've thought about a lot too. I mean, really, we are so finite, how could anyone really understand what is outside of our realm of reasoning and thinking. I'm just not convinced that claims of out of body experiences are in fact that, but something else entirely. However, having said that, I see no reason that someone could remember what their "spirit" may have experienced as it is possible that this spirit has it's own intelligence. Anyway, it's so hypothetical I really see nothing hear nor there about it.
I would love to see you in action challenging a Muslim about their faith. Now that would be interesting.
