Zither,
Sorry to see that you're gettin' unsettling responses to your postings here. Guess I was "Lucky", in that I was in the cult in the early years ('71-'73) and didn't get a lot of the garbage fed to me that some did. One time an ole preacher told me somethin' that has really helped over the years concerning what people say, or what I read, or actually anything "Fed" to me. "Eat the meat and spit out the bones". I get a lot out of this site, but I must say, there's a lotta bones. Some meat also, tho. A lot of what I see here actually seems to me to be the result of some folks having just too much time to spend on the computer. I don't have one at home, so most of what I do here, I'm doin' at my job (Oh! -- naughty me! :) Screw 'em! I do enough here! About other "Religions" -- Especially the Moslems -- I like to take folks one at a time, kinda like individuals. Much more interesting. One time I was on a trip, and went thru a town where this guy, Chuck Swindoll was going to speak. A bunch of my friends were real into the guy's tapes, etc., thot a lot of him, etc. So I thot I'd go check it out. When I got to the town, not knowing where I was, nor where to go, at a stop lite, I asked a guy crossin' the street directions (He happened to be a black guy, and this was in the "Deep South"). He said he was goin' by there on his way home, so I offered him a ride. Went by the place, but as it was too early, I took him home, and he asked me in for awhile. Very congenial, kind, and friendly. Come to find out he's a moslem. He lives with another guy, and two ladies, all in the same house. But the ladies on one side, the two guys on the other, not, like boy-girl, boy-girl. Anyway, He says after this thing I'm goin' to, I oughta stop back and visit. I go to this place, some big convention hall, and never felt more like a stranger! I'm clean, but bein' a country boy, certainly not dressed like any of the folks there! And like I was invisible, as nobody says even Hi, or Boo! to me or anything. The "Show" starts, and it's like somethin' you'd see in Las Vegas -- Blonde, Redhead, Brunnette, singin', super dressed-up, real "Show" -like. Quite a performance. Anyway, to make it short, it was a very strange vibe to me. Wierd! Like, if this is the "Spirit" of God, I'm outa here! So I go back to Nur-Mohhamed's place, meet his room-mates, they feed me, and we have a really great, down-home, family-feelin' visit. They even let me spend the night there. Come to find out they are all Molems, but had been raised in the South in Pentacostal churches. But because of the wonderful example of the "Great White Christians", they would have nothing to do with it and consequently converted to Islam. Kinda got me to thinkin', who is really closer to our creator, anyway?? Oh well, keep-on, keepin'-on. love ya, mark
