"Just as the Christian churches went through several bloody centuries during the Reformation and Inquisition ...."
What about the bloody centuries that followed, or don't you include the genocide of native populations in North & South America, and Australia (maybe Africa too, but I'm not as familiar with its history) bloody enough to count? Those genocides have continued into modern days, just in a different form.
I also think you put too much stock on Christian pacifist groups. Despite their good work, they really operate on the fringes of Christianity. If Christianity was such the peaceful, benevolent religion it is made out to be, then there wouldn't be any need for such pacifist groups. Imo, just because Christianity has some extremely small, fringe pacifist groups that are not representative of mainstream Christianity, and you haven't been able to find anything similar in Islam does not make Christianity a superior religion, which is what you seem to be arguing.
Good article, btw. It confirms what I've said in various posts: "Islam clearly does not speak with one voice. It shows nearly as much diversity as does Christianity..."
