If you choose the second topic I highly recommend reading "Christ Before the Manger (The Life and Times of the Preincarnate Christ)" by Ron Rhodes (Baker Book House) (c) 1992, ISBN 0-8010-7766-4. It may be out of print but you could get it from an online used book seller and it'd be well worth the investment.
I'm reading it right now and it has been completely changing my thinking about the Names of God and Jesus in the OT.
