I never thought of U2 members as being in the closet with their religion, just that their religion meant more with actions such as the One Campaign and other humanitarian efforts. What a bad experience and how weird, your hubby's experience.
I know that when I was a teen I had a favorite band and then I saw them live in concert and was so UNimpressed that I got rid of their albums that I already had. I just couldn't think of the music without remembering the concert.
Still, as far as U2 goes I do admire a lot of what they are doing.
