Charlie,
As a youngster, I grew up in So. Cal., and pretty much lived at the beaches (Huntington, Seal). Also did a lot of camping. For about a year after leaving the fam.(From Amsterdam - '73)I traveled Europe, out to India & back, then found myself in the Florida Keys. Right away (By God's most awesome Grace & Mercy) I met a guy who showed me how to weave hats and baskets from the coconut palm. For a good three yrs I camped in the mangroves before finally renting a trailer, but for over 22 yrs I was "Mark daWeaver". I could hang out at beaches and weave and people would buy what I made, and I probably met a gillion people. Then I got into gardening, but mostly growing tropicals, palms, exotics, etc. Because of the nature of the land there, I had to make my own dirt, mulching a lot of seaweed with whatever. Got to do a lot of snorkeling, also, as most of the area is not even 12' deep. Alot of boating, sailing, too. Then my wife and I got into landscaping. Then I got into beekeeping. It all helped me so much and I really kinda miss it, as now (For the last 10 yrs) I've been working in weld-shops in the North. But, that's a whole 'nuther book. God Bless ya, mark
