OK, that helps to understand. I've been in churches that I had to leave (authoritarian, etc.) and after my wife and I left we met lots of other people who had left that same church for the same reason. I would not recommend people go to that church.
Jesse, you sure DO need caring friends when you go through rough times. I'm almost wondering, from the way you describe it, if you've been going to one of those huge mega-churches. It's hard to get close to people and find a caring community of friends if a church is so big it has to be organized like a business.
Is there nothing else in your city? You've given these guys 5 years of chances and it seems like that's enough to see tht they're not where it's at or what you need. Why not find a more caring fellowship? Shop around. I certainly would if I were hurting and my church didn't care.
