I went to an agency-wide retreat today where we did a training on how to give better customer service.
The trainer asked first, "What is the Golden Rule?" Ans: Treat others as you would want to be treated.
So what is the Platinum Rule, he asked? "Treat others as THEY want to be treated."
I thought to myself, how true that is. Sometimes people have treated me exactly how they want be treated, and I've thought: Yuck! I don't want or need what you desire from others in the way of service.
Some folks want a lot of attention and fuss, while others want to cut the chase and get the business done. Some folks need to feel like they're in control, and others just want to be nice and get along.
