All the links are interesting, but I liked the "gender genie" article the best. My notions about male versus female rhetoric are based largely on studies of spoken language. Women tend to be less direct and to qualify their statements more than men. It goes without saying that spoken language is quite different than written language.
So here's my best guess on your gender given your response to my question: I think you are female because you said you see it as a compliment when people on the board reference you as both male and female. It would like a fairly secure, integrated male to feel complimented when someone mistakenly identifies him as female. (You know the negative stereotypes: sissy, girly man, fairy.)
I'm basing my guess on probabilities, and there is a significant possibility I'm wrong and that you're a male who's accepted the feminine aspects of his personality and is comfortable with openly expressing that part of himself in a public forum.
