Hi Acheick. There have been many times that believers jumped the gun in thinking that the Lord's return would take place in their lifetimes. But while persecution was indeed widespread at various times in the past, and events in part appeared to some, to indicate the Lord's return was nigh, all of the signs given in scripture were not actually present at the same time. The only signs left that I can think of right now are a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem, (I suspect that it could go up fairly fast as apparently the stones have been cut and even the Jews have been in training to officiate in the temple.) and the man of sin entering it to defile it. (That happens 3 1/2 years before the Lord returns.) The other fulfilled signs include the global government as represented by the UN. The general apostasy sweeping the churches. Israel replanted as a nation. Widespread involvment in the occult. (Its seems that most of the kids toys today and TV programs, etc. are all focused on magic.)(The New Age books that take up a whole isle in some bookstores would have been labeled occult literature just a generation or so ago.)The technology to operate a totalitarian world government is already here. Mankind's moral values are at an all time low. I won't mention the many warnings that have been given to thousands of Holy Spirit filled Christians. The reference I made to the ATTEMPTED takeover of the Middle-East by a Russian-Arab confederacy comes from the prophesy in Ezekiel chapter 36. In this war Russia and her allies are 5/6ths destroyed so their plan actually fails, but the resulting devastation, (I believe that the US will be hit, East Coast, West Coast, Great Lakes Region, etc by nuclear weapons.) provides the stage for the anti-Christ to rise to power. The short article below is by a nurse called Clevetta Herndon, called, 'Three Wars that are to Come' that explains why there is a world war several years plus, just prior to the Lord's return. I believe that Bush is leading the US into a trap. I would like to point out that I knew most of this stuff twenty years ago. I was even told (by the Lord)back then that a Canadian Prime Minister would be suggesting to the world that the UN have it's own standing army. (That already happened.)The only good news I have is that Jesus is returning soon and if we don't perish bodily, all of us who are left will go to be with the Lord without having died a natural death. Just like Enoch or Elijah. Those who die before hand most likely will be martyred by a world given over to the devil. Read Revelation 20:4 (We really need to get our acts together.)(Fortunately, Jesus specializes in second, third, etc. chances.)
