Byron, you asked fo exact quotes and references of Paul quoting Greek poets and playwrights. As you will notice, Paul read their poetry, watches thir Comedies and was not above quoting from a pagan writing, "Hymn to Zeus."
Acts 17:28 - "'For in him we live and move and have our being'. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'"
There are two quotations here: (1)"In him we live and move and have our being," from the Cretan poet Epimenides (c. 600 BC) in his "Cretica" and
(2) "We are his offspring," form the Cilician poet Aratus (c. 315-240 BC) in his "Hymn to Zeus". (Yes,you read correct, "Hymn to Zeus".)
1 Corinthians 15:33 - "Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character.'"
A quotation form the Greek Comedy (yes, Paul enjoyed a pagan COMEDY) "Thais" written by the Greek poet Menander.
Titus 1:12,13a - "Even one of their own prophets has said, 'Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.' This testimony is true."
The quotation is the poet Epimenides (a 6th century BC native of Knossos, Crete) who was held in high esteem by the Cretans. Several fulfilled predictions were ascribed to him. Paul calls him a PROPHET and says of his statement, "this testimony is true."
