It surely is an interesting and thought provoking article. But I observe that its criticism is only to one aspect of religion, the extremist closeminded side of fanaticism.

But there are a number of people with religious beliefs who do not participate in the horrors of persecution and violence. There is only a small group, those in leadership position, who are supported by blind followers, who lead the way in the direction of abuse of their power.

I am not atheist but neither am I religious however I get offended by those who attack religion as much as by those who attack atheism because it is an attack on freedom in general.

What needs to be challenged and even ridicule is the fanaticism of the selfrighteous who want to acquire power to advance their agendas of violating the freedom other people have to believe as they please.
