And his view, which is not a new one but has been around for about 2,000 years, is that the millennium is an indefinite period of time and will end with the Second Coming of Christ sometime in the future, at which the millennium will end and there will be heaven on earth. This is called a "Preterist" position.

According to Preterists, the Great Tribulation, as George said, happened for 3-1/2 years and ended with the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD. The Great Trib does NOT (in this view) end with the visible second return of Christ. It was a separate, distinct event.

I don't happen to be a Preterist. I'm more a Peterist following what Peter said in 1 Peter 4:7: "The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply."

I do respect the Preterist position, however, and agree with George that for the last 2,000 years Christians have been trying to say that current events were such-and-such a fulfilment of Bible prophecy.
