No, the lynching now takes much different forms, some subtle some not so subtle, but the result is often the same. Racism is just as rampant, perhaps more so, as in the days when lynching was common. Perhaps it doesn't fit the classic definition of slavery, but there are millions of black people in the U.S. who are imprisoned and disenfranchised by the legal system through such things as the war on drugs primarily directed at blacks and hispanics, to name just one example of institutionalized racism in the U.S. Racism (and war too) is an expression of American culture and it seems unlikely anything will change that.
