Look at the post carefully, I thought it was clear. That section was an excerpt from Chapter 3 of the book, The New Thought Police by Tammy Bruce, a "self-described, lesbian, feminist, activist" according to the jacket cover.
Yes, one must be careful when passing around cute emails without checking the validity and what agenda is pushing them. Dr. Laura received death threats and had to travel with a body guard for a time because of people trying to bring her down over this one thing she said. Ridiculous. No, the email was not funny at all.
