I am impressed...it's h i s paper??Anyway, as I told many times on journeys...Gödel put a heavy nail in my coffin as far as my math-studies were concerned...from then on I thought, that the true answers are only to be found in the right religion...trouble was, I didn't know which ; )
Funny, that you posted that now, cause from reading here & there a bit I noticed, Hawkin has "mellowed" down considerably from his original stance about finding the ultimate unifying formula...I thought that was good news, when I got hints of it some time ago...but I guess lots of physicists prefer their ivory tower....the marvel of the world...almost hard to believe, that those
scientists hadn't heard about Gödel much earlier...well, he stepped at 19 in my life & without understanding him really in the sense of math, I understood the implications...often it's enough to acknowledge the importance of a work of a fellowman...we don't have to invent the wheel anew...
Related to that is the following:

Strange, that they make no mention of Gödel there..
