Many years ago I found myself out surveying a piece of property that the Hari Krishnas planned to build x number of green houses on. One evening I was out on the property with several of the ashram members when evening was setting in. The mosquitoes were getting really bad, but I just gritted by teeth not wanting to offend the members because of their religious belief that all life is sacred. Much to my surprize I noticed that they were slapping and killing the mosquitoes that landed on them. One of them noticing that I was puzzled; explained to me that their religious writings say that it is OK to use deadly force it you are attacked with a, 'pointy instrument'. When you think of it that could cover a lot of territory, bullets, missiles, knives, etc. In theory however you could rule such a nation with just one baseball bat. Strange.
