Super Nanny and Nanny 911 are shows about traditional English Nannies that help families where there are poor parenting skills and the kids are very very out of control.
They prove to me that corporal punishment is ineffectual and that alternative means of working with children ARE.
I think it is my country's culture that is the biggest into corporal punishment. Berg hailed from America and brought this culture and institutionalized "child care" to an extreme.
I think violence against children and then praying with them for "Jesus to forgive them" for trivial trespasses, aka normal behaviors, and then hugging them mixed messages that love and violence are equal. Berg did that with women too. Women and children were objectified but then so were men. Everyone was subservient.
Humiliation and emotional abuse were very very high in the family as well. I am sure it was continued with Zerby. Look at the twisted LJR. And sharing amongst Family members (sex with "brothers and sisters" in the lord). Not to mention control via end time fear factor and magical thinking devices like a multitude of named demons and "helpers".
Don't get me wrong, I love my country and think we have some of the best and worst of everything.
Corporal punishment is some of the worst and it IS slowly being limited and halted.
