I really don't like this type of deciding for parents how they should raise their children. Next they will be checking our bedrooms to see what time the lights go out. How far will they go? Besides, although I don't go for corporal punishment, this type of black or white scenario is too much like big brother IMO. Like Lydia says, sometimes a slap on the hand of a toddler is the best thing to teach them not to touch a hot stove. Or else just let them touch it which Damaged nearly suggested. Which is worse? How about if they want to run in the road and get hit by a car? I can't imagine talking to a 2 yr old and telling them they'll have to sit in a corner, that simply will not get the point across. For heaven's sakes, I was spanked with a hanger by my mother and received plenty of hand spankings, but I didn't turn out violent. I have a hard time killing anything, even snakes, unless I feel threatened, of course.
