Thank you for bringing a little light on this subject. When presented like this, with a little depth and thoughtfulness, it makes sense that spanking should be a decision of the mind, not in isolation but together with lots of more positive and good interaction. I can buy that.
What I can't buy is a blanket statement that spankings are not all bad, and PERIOD! I have seen too much of this and seen the results. Going beyond children, it is an attitude that trascends to the general population the culture in society at large that thinks punishment is an end by and of itself. The same population thinks nothing of the pain it inflicts in the name of justice or of peace, their own peace.
