so you are telling me those who get to vote or hold a job get to hit those who don't? reminds me of some cultures in the middle-east. a child's rights have to be protected precisely for the reason that a child is less able to retaliate when an adult uses violence in a one-sided family fight. when they get to be teenagers they can slam the doors or go into the room and shut the door like Achieck. when they are adults they can vote with their feet and move out and get a job. they can even sue, divorce or report to the police. but when they are too little to do that, it is plain unfair to hit them just because you can get away with it. that's why they need their rights protected under law to equalize it.
