of course can be found in most religious traditions, and even non-religious ones for that matter. but the difference between the core message and worldveiws is the heart of the matter, imo. the eastern hindu/buddhist veiw is based on the reality of the physical universe and human relationships as transient illusion to be detached from in order to experience release. the biblical veiw of creation/ the fall/ redemption/ restoration fills reality w/ meaning and importance, and addresses the complex issues of design, good and evil, human conciousness etc. in a totally different way.
Jesus has of course been hijcked and distorted in a zillion different ways... the family having been the deluxe distortion w/ which most of us here have had to wrestle . even w/o distortion, Jesus confronts humanity w/ a huge challenge... the foolishness of the cross and the scandal of grace. but i personally find embracing these challenges more than worth the effort...and as the old song goes... AMAZING!
