It's my understanding that Jesus promoted the concepts of compassion, kindness, and love, above all else in the Torah - and that Jesus unabashedly denounced whatever practices he deemed to be cruel. So, I would ask what does Jesus say about the Torah concept of slavery. And what does he say about the actual practice of slavery within Jewish society?
Just in case Jesus was silent on the subject (I really don't know), then I would ask what does that silence mean. Because my understanding of Christianity and the New Testament, Jesus would not stay silent in the face of cruel social practices, so I would think his silence in the Christian Bible may be evidence that Jewish society was not cruel and did not violate the Torah in its practice of Torah slavery.
