My daughter who is a incest survivor and suffers from post traumatic stress disorder recently got a dog (also rescued) and the difference to her is life is incredible. I was against the idea in the beginning for her to get a pet as I thought it would restrict her and add to the expenses she already has to meet on her own but boy was I wrong. The dog 'Honey Pants' has already given her so much love and companionship and healing. It is equivalent to years of therapy imo. We were never allowed pets when we were kids so I had no idea of the value of a pet. I also love little Honey so much I ring up and talk to her on the phone!
