As you were telling me this story, I thought of the movie, "Doubt" where Meryl Streep plays a nun in a school for boys where she uncovers abuse of young boys by a priest. Very sad. Why do our journeys to find God become so twisted? I, too, started my recovery in Alanon and then ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) This is the path that lead me back to my Higher Power.
Our "hunger and thirst for righteousness" has to lead us to the God of our understanding eventually. God Bless you on your journey!
