To me everybody has a theology one or the other way anyway

As an exer...my biggest stumbling block was all the doom and gloom preached in the COG, the obsession with sin. My belief today is Jesus died for our sins one time, He saves us one time, and if we continue to sin, He forgives us by His grace not by our works. We are human and we do things that are unloving sometimes, but now when we follow His teachings, we feel remorse and admit our shortcomings to Him in prayer. We forgive ourselves, God forgives us and we forgive others who have hurt us. That is how we stay on the path. Bringing His kingdom down here, bringing His joy to others, letting go of resentments and keeping our side of the fence clean, one day at a time! People get overwhelmed with theology and what is correct! We need to keep it simple....love God and love one another!

I agree basically with your fine post

my biggest stumbling block was all the doom and gloom preached in the COG, the obsession with sin.

Well...the Bible preaches sin...doom etc. and some churches are much worse in adapting that to life than COG...the point is as you pointed out...we're saved...we're loved...but that doesn't give us the license to sin as one pleases...true...it's always forgiven...but it needs also to be repented of/confessed etc...it's a matter of usefulness, being a light, a witness...the extreme is for me in 1.Cor. 5...where Paul submits a
fornicator to the chastising through the devil in prayer...it seems that person repented...my take of the second epistle...

Later COG rather downplayed the responsibilities to live a holier life regarding marriage and sex and that is really crucial with COG...foremost I'd say...sexual abuse in general

The whole world would be healed if everyone did these two things.

Well..it all hinges on the if...as you know...there is also the universal reconciliation theory/theology...and COG believes in it.

I abandoned it...when I couldn't find any expressive/positive mentioning of beings, leaving the lake of fire...neither does it say anywhere that out of the weeds (Mt. 13...which the enemy sowed) you have a transformation into wheat.

Nice theology...but so far not really totally proven IMO

Basically what you and I do before in and after TF is theology...reasoning with the Word we find...letting it speak to us...convincing us one way or the other...I believe in the "system of a big puzzle"...if a piece doesn't fit...without doing harm to it...then my thought can't be right...God is also not the author of confusion...I love that one...

Even keeping it simple rather living a lovefilled life is also a theology in Germany...elsewhere I suppose it's the same...pietists they are called

Take the trinity...the Jews can't agree on and the Arians of old and now like the JW etc...polyfgamy is practised by at least the Mormons...without now being specifically being very Christian through further teachings...nonetheless Smith started out there among a normal congregation...all that is theology and one has to take a stand for or against...the issues seem to be endless for me...got to end here now...for the moment...
God bless you

Sorry the typos...lack of time...
