I often like to think of "God" as the Great Creator or the "Great White Spirit" as did the Native American Indians. I also have a view similar to yours when you put it in terms of positive and negative energy. I'm not able to personify "God".

I agree with you that governments, the powerful, and political leaders have used religion and religious doctrines as a means to an end thereby causing division, hatred, war and most of the worlds horrors. The end being the acquisition of more power and their own material enrichment.

Below Blue answered your post asking: "How do you explain this? If doctrines that lead to “most of the horrors in the world” are wrong for you, how can they not be wrong for almost all people?"

For me the answer to that is simple, it's not the sincere believers themselves that cause the horrors. As I said, it's how the powers-that-be use the exclusivism in many religious doctrines to their own ends.

It also seems that Blue feels you were blaming it all on Christian doctrines. I don't see where you singled out just Christian ones, in your post you used the term "many religions" and you also mentioned the "virgins and martrydom" as one example.
