Berg's teachings are the reason of our ideological stance and view of the world. Even if it was for a short period of time many people were marked for life with those teachings and are still dealing with them. I can't speak for you but I am one of those people whose soul he tried to capture, and missed.
Shedding those teachings as dirty clothes is part of our journey, and therefore belongs to this board.
BTW, I don't hate David Berg. I never did. What I hated, and still hate, are his teachings, his hypocrisy and his abuse of power. But there were many good things too, which I solely and squarely attribute to God. The Holy Spirit became and has been my teacher through what I learned in TFI.
But everything else, all those bad things, came from David Berg through his flesh family first and then his spiritual entourage and leaders who condoned those teachings.
In order to build a new relationship with Jesus, as you proclaim to want to do, you need to first destroy the polluted foundation set by the Bergs and their minions. But I am digressing now.
