When I was in India in TFI I got a chance to read the biography (given to me of my parents) of mother Theresa...someone I really admired
...one thing she really "avoided" doing and that is "preaching".....her attitude was...love converts in its own time...being probably convinced, that the poor knew, what she stood for (plus activities leading to conversion are really literally resisted in India) and some embraced faith in Jesus on their deathbed...from all I remember...
Jesus did say, that to the poor ...whether in Spirit or on the material level...both are poor to me...the gospel is preached...and the poor you always have with you...I take that also to mean, that the problem of poverty is not really being solved (so easily)...though I am convinced, it could...if we all were less selfish.
No end of jobs/opportunities either to help them...if the funds to serve the poor are provided by some institution or set up...or if one happens to be a millionaire...to support oneself too.
There are always job-opportunities to help...my
conviction and hopefully your prospect for the future...and hang on to your dreams in basics...may be not trying to "push" a timetable??
