I know there are many different ways people believe after leaving cults/hdo's or whatever one wants to call them. Something happens with a psyche that is indoctrinated for years and decades in some cases, with a concrete way to view everything from how to eat, dress, speak, think politically believe religiously and that all comes from outside of self- maybe with some things a person agrees about, but always compromises when taking on the views of "God" (cult leader). It's no wonder there are often tensions after getting out, between people who have gotten out.
I hope you say more about your big tent Christianity and the diversity in it. Have you found others who believe similarly, or do the people where you go to church at seem to think you'll come around to their way of thinking? Or do you attend a more universalist sort of church where there is a lot of diversity and variation in personal belief? For me, spirituality is a walk on the beach, staring at a star filled sky, seeing a spark of hope in the eyes of a person living in chaotic or sad situation, reaching out and making a connection regardless of differences..
Thanks for your comment.
