It's funny you should mention the corner some of us are about to turn, or are turning. I have been under my house recently insulating the crawlspace. I call it MY HAPPY PLACE! Have you ever been in an unfinished crawlspace? Eugch! Think 8 hrs/day on my belly/back for a full 5 days.

I am pretty fit. I can go all day/all week during a busy summer season but I'm just back from somewhat of a relaxed winter so I'm not an all day/all weeker yet. So have I been feeling my mortality recently? YES!

I drink more coffee. I sleep less because I drink more coffee. I need a power nap mid day, or another coffee if I can't get a nap. I'll still need a coffee after waking from the nap.

Am I slowing down? Yes! My drive to hunt, fish, work - it's all dying down. I'm quite content to take a walk out back, find a place to sit, and do some birding. The birds that flew out of my way while walking into the woods, a field, a swamp etc, will fly back, for the most part, once I sit.

I have learned to identify hundreds of birds. I can identify a hundred just by ear. Birding is good for one's mental health. It's a gentle pastime for a gentle time of life.

Thankfully, I got over coming out of the Fam. That was a bit of a struggle, er, I mean, a huge struggle, but, like you say, thanks to the boards, I was able to do it and I am much wiser because of it.

Now for some good news. My wife and I had a BIG SCRAP just before Christmas. I mentioned to her that the kids and I were looking to see the light in her, and weren't seeing it. "You stay out of my spiritual life. It's none of your business, blah, blah!"

Long story short, she dug down, broke with her denials, cried some real tears over all the things that had gone down in her life (and there were many), accepted them and started reaching resolution. She had reached some resolution for some things prior to this, but this was the icing on the cake. This was the resolution that was going to give her joy, constant joy, cause it was the resolution that resolved ALL her past, not just parts of it.

Imagine that! 22 years after having come out of the Fam. She a happy camper now and she's just made a HAPPY EASTER dinner for the kids and grandkids, and they are many.

HAPPY EATER TO ALL!
