Apocryphal! I even spelled it wrong. You caught me on that one--as you can see, I'm far from being an accomplished scripture scholar. Truth be told, I'm generally not that interested in the OT books. I'm wrestling with the Gospel of John right now. It's interesting how something so familiar becomes more difficult with time.
The Lord did me a favor and more or less wiped clean much of my previous understanding, even the understanding I had that could be viewed as orthodox. I stepped away from reading scripture for a well over 10 years. Thing is, I've always loved it, ever since childhood. Because I had a reasonably good foundation in scripture when I joined the cult, I wasn't in the Family for very long. Nevertheless, the short time I was in left an lifetime impact--two children and a husband of 22 years (now ex).
