I don't see science as anything that can be under assault. The basis of science is to seek answers, find proof or disprove educated guesses and to realize how very little is still known about life, and it yearns to discover and clarify more about what is known. An example for me would be the overwhelming probability of intelligent life beyond earth, yet many literalists believe the earth is the only place where intelligent life exists. To me that is like believing the earth is flat or rides upon the back of a giant tortoise. As science proves things are possible that were thought to be impossible, doctrines shift. I am amazed at technology today and how rapidly it is advancing and yet we are just scratching the surface of what will be commonplace in fifty years from now. About any sort of afterlife, I do believe energy changes form. I just can't see any one religion or all combined explaining what's next in a way that isn't mythological. Still, thanks for talking about you beliefs, and to me, post-family, it's refreshing that we're not all striving to think the same or see things the same way.
