By all means, humour is fine with me. ;) (All I write here below is in my opinion.)

True. Interpretation (and then communication) of data is what we do.

You wrote: "What I've written here either resonates as true to you, or it doesn't - no skin off my back. I certainly cannot "decide" for you that it is true, or "know" that you are wrong not to believe me."

My fault, and my apologies...what I thought of as self-evident must not have been so after all.
First and foremost, I more or less agree with you on your take on most of what you write. That does not make your thinking cult-like, fortunately. ;)

By means of being a member of the human race, we have inherent clues as to what are the major issues in life, things most battle with to some degree, i.e. the major issues common to man.

That said, it is not part of the ‘assignment’ for us ‘mere humans’ to lord it over others, to make it our business to decide right from wrong for another independent and responsible_to_God person on any issue, large or small. Each person is thus fully responsible in their life, and for their life, but not limited to that, meaning, we are to an extent our brother’s keeper, not his lord.
All such self proclaimed police work is the seed of tyranny.

You wrote: "Then it would still be up to us, as individuals, to decipher and appreciate such a code [universal moral code], to understand it for ourselves. Some may discern the existence of a universal spiritual construct. Others may value such a code but argue that such a construct is absent in nature and that moral codes have all been historically inconsistent and are in fact a social constructs, and so forth."

True, the arguments are indeed many.
When I say a universal moral code I mean the Ten Commandments (TC), as found in the Bible.
The TC are to a lesser degree subject to individual interpretation. But almost any TFI baggage will tell us that the TC are revoked, obsolete, done away with.
But nonetheless, within the TC we have the common moral code for humanity.
