You wrote in response to what I wrote over on Genx: "Charlie, I must say that after coming to the realization that the majority of the leadership o the COG had pretended spirituality, lived in total denial of the truth and had lied to me through the teeth to make their religion and control tangible to me - I figured it's just human nature and the first Christian leaders probably were full of BS too. I never quite did grasp the resurrection, walking on water and why God would defy his own laws and principles - to prove what? That there are no absolutes? Doubt it!"

I just came across your response today so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and Happy Birthday etc. And Happy Whatever too! There's no doubt in my mind that the group got off the straight and narrow much to the hurt of so many, both first and second and I suppose by now third and fourth generations etc. That was unfortunate and, for sure, it takes 'some doing' to wrap one's head around recovery from all of that. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the early church leaders were nut-bars as well though. I can't imagine Peter, James, and John witnessing Jesus' configuration as Jesus being some far out wing nut. No, faith is real and, yes, there are no absolutes when it comes to faith other than the absolute of one having to have faith - believing to see rather than seeing to believe.
