Hi and best wishes for the New Year!

You wrote: "Many 'former members' express atheistic view, including myself. This is often met with some degree of sadness with those who have left the cult, but still retain religious affiliation.

I don't propose to know the reasons behind most of our generation's lack of religion, but from what I can judge, many of us leave Christianity as we are incapable of separating our experiences in the cult with mainstream Christianity. However, once that link is severed, more logical reasons for disbelief are quickly found, making a return to religion impossible for most of us.

If God exists (highly unlikely, IMO), perhaps we will be granted some leniency on judgement day. Or not. Spending time contemplating the mind of a non-existent entity isn't something I waste my time on."

Once one is born again that 'non existent entity' becomes a reality. "God is a spirit, the spirit of truth as Jesus told the woman at the well.

The logic of belief and miracles, hence the Bible, is far more powerful than the logic of unbelief.
