I am not aware of Obama being tight-lipped about donations. I am sure that if he was accepting illegal funds that the Republican Party would have jumped all over this as a main issue, and there would be an official investigation.
Not only that, but there is enough scrutiny from Government and watchdog organizations that if there was any illegal activity going on it would present the candidate with risking the Presidency and their candidacy and I don't think either of them want to risk this for any amount of money.
