God bless you! This is exactly the kind of news we never get in the U.S. mainstream media. I hope you are able to work with an NGO in that country and continue posting here. There are many US citizens who would make private contributions to cleaning up the mess if they were aware of the problem. Are any of the NGOs concerned with the cleanup in Laos affiliated with organizations in the US? That is one way to go, as the capacity for private charitable support is enormous in the US, even with the downturn in the economy. It's simply a matter of marketing to the right audiences.
It's hard to tell how quickly the Obama administration will move on environmental issues or what sorts of strategies they'll take. Something like direct aid to Laos would take lobbying by a special interest group. Once again I have to ask, what links can the NGOs in Laos make to environmental foundations in the US?
