This is right wing propaganda, imo. No better (or worse) than left wing propaganda. The government bailout of the US auto industry did not result in a permanent government takeover of that industrial sector. Or perhaps I should say, no more of a longterm government takeover than the massive federal tax cuts that subsidize the oil & and gas industry and agriculture--to name just two of the private sector interests that feed at the corporate welfare trough through heavy use of publicly funded services (e.g., roads, sewage & waste disposal, law enforcement, fire protection, education).
Catholic social and economic teaching is much more supportive of economic policies that create safety nets for the poor and working class than they are of the pure, unregulated capitalism (social darwinism) of the right wing.
The National Catholic Reporter is a mainstream, middle-of-the-road newspaper. I don't think of it as either left or right wing.
