Maybe Berg was right a few times about some people but he was still a liar. He praised people he wanted to impress. Why believe in the sincerity of what he said about them? To understand his politics we must look at his deeds, not at his words.

The group, publicly imaged as a sort of democratic theocracy, was really a top-down authoritarian militaristic fascist-leaning organization that fought dissent or even commentary.

Discussion about the COG, the FOL or TFI based mostly on his words (his letters) eliminates the possibility of understanding of what he was all about: pure opportunism.

Berg was as intellectual as my dog's hair stuck in the brush during shedding season. He was sophisticated at manipulating situations and people but in politics he was as naive as any other average US citizen. His only claim to excellence was in conning people to clone himself on them.

Looking at what his two clones (Peter and Maria) have been doing these last years, I may even take these back. Maybe Peter and Maria were the ones supplying all the good ideas, themes, dreams, and revelations all along.

But in the end, Berg was an authoritarian rightist fascist. No wonder he left around the time Franco died.
