As President, he is being inclusive of all Americans by putting religion aside when addressing everyone because he isn't just representing Christians, but he is representing all Americans which includes Sikhs, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, Gays and a plethora of other ideologies/orientations. I personally think the addition of "under God" to the pledge of allegiance is divisive. It is divisive because it is not inclusive of free thinkers/atheists/agnostics and some other religions or beliefs. I would proudly say the pledge of allegiance if I felt included. I don't.
The original pledge:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for ALL.
