It is important to note that any and all educational groups I have heard (largely gay community) DO say that abstinence is the only 100% safe way to keep from contracting the disease via a sexually transmitted route.
They also discuss the modes of transmission regardless of sexual orientation. It is an extensive and very thorough presentation that gay community health and AIDs educators give!
