I agree with everything you said.
It is hard to put this into context without making some kind comparison. To make a comparison you have to pick something that everyone knows about, so you don't have to ver explain.
The comparison that comes to mind is the Nazi Party.
Sure they had some good ideas. They made the trains run on time. But, the cost was simply too high. The core beliefs were rotten to the core. There is no way to rehab the Nazi party and make it good and right. Even if they did good things from now on, they would still be the Nazi's.
Not only did The Family get way off track. But, they continue to defend, minimize and outright lie about the past. That shows that there isn't a serious attempt to reform. Just enough whitewash to sucker in more people who don't know any better.
