Giovanni, you might have "friends" or "know" TFI members, but you’re a bit behind the times in your statement that they don't have bank accounts, driving licence, any education, any house and lots of children. While this might be true for some of its membership, this is not a true picture of today’s members. Many younger members now have a drivers licence, own a car or two, hold a bank account, quite a number of their membership own their own houses or working on buying property or rent (renting is a perfectly normal thing to do), and not all have “lots of children”.
The makeup seems to be around 8,000 to 10,000 former FD,MM and FM members, and about 6000 to 8,000 AM members, who are all now “members of TFi”. That’s a total of about 16,000
If you read the re-boot publications, you will read that the day of large combo style homes is a thing of their past. You will read getting a job to pay the bills is officially accepted, you will also read that membership from June 1st entails very few rules (compared to their “Charter” document). They still need to either tithe 10% or give some form of monthly gift (as a person sees fit) and report (seems they now will do this on an individual basis). Of course you can read that Maria and Peter are still the leaders, but seems they have made some type of clause that if they “retire” or “die”, then WS and some of their other low levels of leadership can decide successors.
Although I see this to be a long overdue change, the question will be: How long will it last? Will Peter and Maria come out with another set of letters in a few years to tell everyone it was a major mistake, Members weren’t ready for this “freedom” or abused it, went too far and that “God” is displeased? Only time will tell. If it works, and Peter and Maria accept the changes, then the organisation will morph from cult to church. There will most likely even be shock in your rank and file members who think these changes are too much. Let’s see what happens.
