Glad you came by. Since you asked, may I offer my humble opinion in response to your questions? Personally I think the group did a quantum leap with the recent changes - into oblivion! Yes, they really changed, but only under immense pressure, as their membership was in steep decline. Scores of young people were leaving months after months, those remaining of their first generation membership were reaching retirement age, many of them with declining health - a recipe for disaster!

Like our global economy, movements like the Family are growth oriented. Their recent ‘Offensive’ promised thousands of new recruits and members to come pouring in their doors. After almost 2 years and no visible results of ANY expansion, they did what any good politician does when things go awry: shift attention & focus, create a smoke screen! Alas, the Change Journey!

I can't help but keep comparing it to Glasnost and Perestroika (for those who remember) of the waning Soviet empire. When nothing else worked they tried to save the ship from sinking by totally reversing their course. The end? They vanished and reinvented themselves as the new democratic Russia. Did they change? Yes, in a way! Kinda like putting lipstick on a pig, to use this rather over-used metaphor.

To make a long story short, the Family still hasn't renounced any of their teachings: the Loving Jesus Revelation (fucking with Jesus), promoting pedophilia ( a little genital touching and rubbing is OK...), the Keys of the Kingdom (outlandish spiritual power generator), their special gift of prophecy (Jesus says:... – sadly, something different all the time, mainly rubberstamping their doctrines), their sexual "freedoms" (making swingers look like kindergarten) and their spiritual channeling (guidance from spirit beings). They’re still glossing over their past, revering David Berg as prophet. They still are in total denial as to what they did to their son and heir, Ricky - driving him into insanity, as they did with Mene Berg.

Back to your question ‘have they changed’: yes, they have in principle, but the core issues remain unchanged!
