I like a number of the same things: writing, fishing, philosophy and working with people, ...Dexter and Sci-fi too. Add to it, hiking, cycling, gardening, do-it-yourself things, reading, talking to the grandkids on Skype, and the yearly Christmas family reunion in the States when I see not only my 95 yr old mom, brothers and sister, nephews and nieces, cousins, but my kids and grandkids as well.

You know I met someone here in Switzerland the other day at an event that was work related, she's was also an expat and an military service brat like me ...I'm army, she was an air force brat and both our dads were colonels. Talking to her about what it was like to grow up on military bases I realized how fortunate I am to have a place in the U.S. which I can call home. When my dad retired from the army we moved to Texas, and my parents bought the house my mom still lives in. Not long after that I ended up in the COG and the years I spent in the group I was all over the world and visiting relatives was not on the cards, we rarely went back to TX. However since I've left the group it's been a once or twice a year event, and now not only do my children live in the same area, so does one of my brothers and my sister.

So in spite of the dysfunctions of the past I've recovered bonds with my family that had grown very weak.
