Hitler was very clear in his discussion of Christanity and the Catholic church. He said once , "Jesus Christ may be the spiritual savior of Germany but I am its physical savior." He also said he was "born" and "destined" to save Germany. From all that I have read regarding Hitler he was more hooked into Tuetonic mystic thought than a clear identification with one religion. He freely used various religious doctrines and/or icons to further his own view of himself as the supreme and great physical savior of Germany and the world. Hitler may have been a Catholic on Monday if it suited him but he could just as well go to Woden or otherwise on Tuesday or any other day of the week. Art and verse dedicated to Hitler in that era often portrayed him as a heroic figure of Tuetonic legend. The record shows that Hitler was ready to eliminate any population group that opposed him in any significant way. He had a habit of taking every thing that happened very personally. As a result many of his countrymen were killed even if they posed no threat to anyone. That number included his own friends and associates. It also is a fact of history that the Catholic church compromised its ethical integrity to avoid any problems with Hitler. I am not saying every catholic but the Church in general policy did.
