Take it easy Farmer. First, as I said to someone else, when I post here I don't do it with you or anyone else specifically in mind. When I do I usually make it clear by addressing that person.
Your initial response was predictable, as you say, and you also know where I stand, so I don't think it was offensive to say that I'm not interested in theological answers. When I post something like I did in the original post that started this thread, the kind of responses that interest me are ones that tell me something I don't already know, or that point me to some resource like a book, article etc. There are far more people who read posts here than just the few of us that post regularly, so it is with that broader audience in mind than just you or Mr. Don (you are the two who most often respond to my posts) that I post here. Occasionly, some one else will post a response that does interest me, and that's what keeps me coming back here.
Similarly, I didn't post that link to the website that contains religious arguments against hitting children with you specifically in mind. If you read it again you will see that I addressed that paragraph "to those of you who don't like my (approach)....". I was actually thinking of readers who might be on the fence on this issue of corporal punishment, but can't stand my humanistic approach, so I posted a website that gives a religious approach to the issue.
That's all, nothing personal.
