The reason I said he demoted his own kids is also because one "Americanism"...or trait of family-enterprise or family-led-companies is trying to keep their company within the familymembers...I'd say the majority of times...for that reason I say he was also not typically "American" & didn't export that trait...however Chinese & Indian companies are also run by families, dynasties.
