You made the mistake of associating morals with religion or "God." We humans are moral animals in the we are a social primate. That is, we are evolved through millions of years living in small groups in which we have evolved social instincts that enable us to live efficiently, effectively, together in groups. For example, even chimps will resent, even sometimes attack another chimp that does not repay a favor. This is our sense of justice and also the basis for our economic systems.
I mention all this because it is good for all us atheists to not give the church the "high moral ground." We can name many more moral prerogatives that are not in the Bible but what have come up since it was written. Very few of the Bibles some 600 dos and don'ts are anything but totally obsolete measuring and ceremonial rules.
